The bands lineup for Aruba's Grand Calypso & Roadmarch Contest 2008! |

 Today at noon we received the sequence of the bands for the grand finale in Aruba's Calypso & Roadmarch Contest 2008.
After early this morning we received the results, the fact that Le Groove has the most participants that qualified for the big finale in Joe Laveist Ballpark was the main topic of discussion on the radio.
Last year after much controversy we would have hoped this discussion would have become something of the past.
The Calypso and Roadmarch Contest is a contest in which judges appointed by SAC choose the best Calypso and the best Roadmarch for Aruba's Carnival.
It must be clear to everyone that "Roadmarch" is not a genre of music. Throughout the years their have been different styles of music that have become the "Roadmarch" everything from jamback to soca. Someone might even come to contest with a bachata if they wanted to and win. If that's what the judges believe is supposed to be Aruba's Carnival music theme.
The fact that Anthoni Gario and Le Groove wish to bring back an old style in which they concentrate on the meaning of the lyrics and not just making people do something is admirable.
Making such bold statements as to say that "SAC needs to take Soca out of the Roadmarch Contest" is ridiculous.
Respect the music even if you don't like the person composing it. And respect the judges!
